Rohit Roy has shown his sparkling direction in Dus Kahaniyaan’s Rice Plate and now he is all set to direct his own full fledged movie. We had a chat with the man himself about his new film and his television career.      

You started your career with television but now we have heard that you are bidding goodbye to it. How true is that? 
Well it is not like a bidding goodbye. I always wanted to do certain kind of cinema. I wanted to direct my own films and if I continue doing television then I won’t get time. That is the reason I am trying to cut down on my television work. I have not done television over a year now. It is only because I want to concentrate on my film career now.     
 
You are hosting a couple of television shows. Tell us are you enjoying hosting more than acting on TV?  On television, definitely I enjoy hosting than acting. I am happy that people 
Liked the way I hosted Jhalak Dikh Laja. It really feels nice when people appreciate you for your work. 

Are you ready with the launch of your new serial ‘Rang’. We heard there was some trouble going on with the launch? 
This is very unfortunate that ‘Rang’ will not going on air. This is not the correct time for its launch.   

We have seen the versatility of Rohit Roy. Rohit as an Actor, Director, Producer, Anchor. What next now? 
I don’t know lets see, may be singing (laugh) or sum thing else. It is very fortunate that people like whatever work I am doing. Now be that acting, or directing.         
      
Tell us something about your upcoming movie as a director? Are you doing Kaante 2 as a director? What are your plans on the same?   
I won’t call it Kaante 2 actually. I will just say that I am making a big ticket action film that will come out from White Feather Production House. White feather is known for its action thriller and yes if people think Kaante 2 was good so let’s see what we can do about it.  

How much has recession hit you?
It has hit me quite considerably. It is not only me, it has affected millions across the world, but at this time one should think of saving and not spending. This time phrase will not last forever. The prices were shooting up. Everything from estate to commodity prices rose as sky scrapers. I hope this time period ends so that lives can get back to normal once again.    

You are a famous TV show host. As a host do you agree that it is ok to poke fun of industry people during award shows?
No, I don’t think and frankly I don’t want to comment or create any controversy but I am not that kind of host. In my brand of hosting I am very much genuine.

Since the time you joined the TV industry what major changes have you observed?
I have noticed a major change. The content of making a good television show is deteriorating day by day. We have great show makers in the past. Serials like Hum Log and Buniyaad are remembered till date. I still remember the serial called ‘Swabhimaan’ which was a huge success in its era. Infact people would still love to see it. I feel that Is what you call the art of making a good television show
