Rohit Roy, who is just back from Kuala Lampur, can’t stop talking about his fabulous trip

rohitroy_screenRohit Roy has visted Kuala Lumpur several times, but he says that his last trip was the most special. “I had gone to see some locations and ended up going to this beautiful place called Redang. It is an hour-and-a-half away by boat from Kuala Lumpur and is one of the finest virgin island beaches I have ever seen. It is a secluded, quaint little place. I was staying at The Berjaya Beach Resort, which is very beautiful.” The best part about the city, as he puts it, is “the buzz about the place. People in the city are very friendly and helpful. Though the language and cuisine are different, there is not much of a difference in the cultures. Everytime I visit Malaysia, I feel at home.”

Though he is always stays at five-star hotels, he makes it a point to get a tinge of the local flavour. The actor is a big foodie and loves to experiment with different cuisines. Everytime he is at Kuala Lumpur, he goes berserk experimenting with street food. “We always explore the streets to soak in some local culture. My favourite item is Nasi Lamak, which is a local recipe that consists of noodles and chicken. It is an extremely popular item and I relish it every time I have it.” Rohit also frequents a street that serves mouth-watering dishes, “just like Khau Galli in Mumbai.”

A self-confessed shopaholic, the dishy actor heads straight to the malls from the airport if he is in the mood for some retail therapy. However his favourite place to shop is the newly-opened mall – Pavillion. “The best part about the mall is that it stocks all high-end brands under one roof. Everytime I go to the mall I end up buying loads of stuff. My wife Manasi also loves shopping so we always shop till we drop.”

He also recounts a memorable incident from his last trip. “I had been searching for a Graham Of Londonwatch since the past few months and had almost given up hope until I saw it at Pavillion. Luckily the mall had the same make and model I was looking for. I was ecstatic.” Ever since then, Rohit has not taken the watch off his wrist and wears it to all functions.
